This home had aluminum siding and wanted to completely eliminate all of it. The clients wanted to update the look and make the home look like it belongs in the upscale country club neighborhood in which it resides. Homeowners debated on using LP SmartSide but once they heard the benefits of James Hardie, the choice was clear. Initially they wanted a beige siding to match the brick, they agreed to trust Erdmann's judgment on the Iron Gray siding and Arctic White trim. In order to continue with the upscale look the homeowners were looking for we used James Hardie Custom window trim with header details on the lower Windows as well as on the dormers.

After
The addition of Blackwatch Green raised panel shutters completed the Cape Cod look. They opted for the 15/71 inch for a more dramatic look. You can find them here, they come in tons of colors and sizes. The combination of the siding, shutters and new door pair perfectly with the brick. We stained the door a walnut color. We took the typical thirty-six inch wide front door with two sidelights and changed it out for a much more commanding forty inch wide Simpson door with custom built side panels for a truly inviting front entry.
Not all of the renovations we did were for aesthetic purposes. While the trim was being installed we were able to add ventilation which would improve temperature control and extend the life of the shingles. On the back of the house, the windows were replaced with energy efficient Beechworth Windows and the unappealing roll lock brick was replaced with the clean lines of limestone sill.
